The Lady Trailblazers got what they were looking for Tuesday, a 25-17, 25-15, 23-25, 25-14 road win over David Crockett on the Lady Pioneers’ Senior Night.
“It’s awesome to have that second seed locked up. It automatically puts us in the double elimination, so we have two chances to move to region,” Boone coach Chelsea Baker said. “We’re thankful that we finished second this year. It’s been up and down. We’ve carried nine players all year and they have done a great job of picking it up when we need to.”
Producing double-doubles for Boone were Jaycee Jenkins with 11 kills with 23 digs and McKenna Dietz with 28 assists and 15 digs. Greyson Stevens had nine kills and 20 digs.
Gabby Rambo tallied nine kills and 16 digs, Kara Weems had 11 kills and four service aces and Joanna Smith contributed 31 assists for Crockett. Breanna O’Shields recorded 19 digs and Maddie Pleasant 16.
“This group of seniors has been amazing to work with,” Crockett coach Marquis Clark said. “I got the job their junior year, which is always tough. They’ve worked really hard and they’ve done everything I asked them to do. It stings that they didn’t get a win in conference play, but we still have a chance in the tournament.”
Boone will hold its Senior Night on Wednesday against Gate City in the final match before the start of the District 1-AAA tournament on Monday.
